Fire Protection Insulation – A Passive Fire Protection Solution
SUM Fire Guard covers are designed to protect critical infrastructure components and significantly extend their operational integrity in the event of a fire. Their carefully selected material composition and specially engineered, tested construction are completely non-combustible and maintain structural integrity even after prolonged exposure to direct flames at temperatures of up to 1093°C.
Under these conditions, it takes as long as 100 minutes for the temperature inside a SUM Fire Guard cover to increase by just 100°C.
Protection of critical infrastructure components in the event of a fire, including pumps, compressors, tanks and other equipment essential to a given process. They can also be used to safeguard high-value assets stored in warehouses, such as injection moulds and metal forming dies.
The use of removable insulation covers as passive fire protection solutions is becoming increasingly popular due to their key operational advantages:

The SUM Fire Guard system was developed in cooperation with our Dutch partner, using, among other components, the innovative Supersafe fabric with a silicone-based coating. When exposed to fire, the material expands (intumesces) and, after partial charring, forms a highly effective fire barrier. The unique combination of this fabric with specialised insulation fills has enabled such a high level of fire protection performance.
