Thermal Insulation with Heating Installation – with an active system for protection against crystallisation and freezing
Description
SUM Heating Guard covers are not only passive insulation but a complete protection system against crystallisation and freezing. The heating cable is integrated into the inner layer of the cover, while an external electronic thermostat with a power cable is installed on the outside – providing a ready-to-use plug-and-play system.
Typical applications
- Systems with crystallising media such as paraffin, chocolate or water
- Valves, filters and flanged connections
- Pumps, heat exchangers and tanks
- Measuring and control instrumentation
- Process temperature stabilisation
- Protection against weather conditions, especially during winter periods
SUM Heating Guard covers are also used as insulation jackets for transport containers (drums, IBC containers) in order to heat the contents prior to unloading or to prevent them from solidifying.
Key benefits
SUM Heating Guard covers are used as an active system which, in addition to their insulation function, is capable of protecting equipment against temperature dropping below a predefined value. Importantly, the cover can still be quickly removed from the equipment (together with all heating cabling), providing unrestricted access during maintenance or inspection work.
Technical data
Inner and outer technical fabric layers – Glass fibre fabric coated depending on requirements with silicone or PTFE (also available in an antistatic version).Heating cable is integrated into the inner layer of the cover, while an external electronic thermostat with a power cable is installed on the outside – a ready-to-use plug-and-play system. On request, the installation can be supplied in an EX-rated version.Insulation core – Approximately 80% of our products utilise mechanically needled E-Glass insulation felt. Unlike conventional mineral wool insulation, it offers:
- High density: from 130 to 180 kg/m³
- Excellent water resistance – even after complete saturation, it regains 100% of its insulating properties once dried
- Outstanding durability and mechanical integrity – resistant to deformation caused by bending, with no delamination or fibre breakdown
